Overview
Dense granule proteins (GRAs) are a category of immunocompetent proteins secreted by the apicomplexan parasites' secretory organelles. Most of the GRAs locate within the parasitophorous vacuole (PV) where the parasite multiplies and maintain intracellular parasitism of nearly all nucleated host cells mainly by modifying the PV at the interface between the host cell and the parasite. Therefore, GRAs play an important role in parasite multiplies and maintain intracellular parasitism. By the development of modern technologies, the potential function of GRAs were focused in diseases treatment.
